Unveiling Night Trances

Unveiling Night Trances

Spread the love

You lay down in your bed, close your eyes and go to sleep.  You fully expect to have a dream, and most of us do.  That’s why the following dream story caught me a little off-guard.

The dreamer described going to sleep and then as she began dreaming she sees the bedroom around her… the images of the dream are superimposed on the real world.  She sees a man standing off in the far corner of her room wearing a Fedora and as she’s looking at him a minotaur appeared only inches from her.  She felt its hot breath on the side of her face.  Terror literally sent her into convulsions until she awoke. Once awake, a heavy feeling of dream falls onto the center of her chest, and she literally has to recover from what she’s just experienced.

Oh, and one more thing.  This all happens while her eyes are wide open and she’s overcome with sleep paralysis.

She doesn’t experience this every night, but it happens enough that it’s the first thing she thinks of when asked about her dreams.

As the dreamer described her experiences, one after another after another, I couldn’t help but wonder how what she was experiencing was a dream if her eyes were wide open the whole time.

After some research and a bit of contemplation, I realized that what she was describing was not a dream at all but a night trance.  A trance is defined as a semi conscious state somewhere between being awake and asleep.  The person in the trance is typically unresponsive to physical stimuli.  So what exactly does it mean to have a night trance?  What is happening here?

Well, trances, like visions of the night are more literal rather than metaphorical.  Yes, I do mean to say that the man in the fedora and the minotaur were actually in her room.  Thing is, they were in a dimension that co-exists with our physical dimension.  This dreamer has a gift of seeing between dimensions.  But then we have to consider something else.  Since virtually all of her trances have terrifying interdimensional beings in them, does that mean this supernatural dimension is only populated with evil destructive creatures?  The simple answer is no.  There are lots of good creatures in that dimension as well, such as angels, but she was attracting dark, evil creatures because her life lacked substantial light.  And to people who have the gift of seeing one dimension on top of the other, it’s vital they don’t become a magnet for dark things.

The more I study dreams the more I run smack into things like trances and visions… who knows how many different experiences the dreamers of the world are having tonight as you’re reading this.  The possibilities are endless.
