Treacherous Fear
Now that summer’s turning to fall, my attention is turning to the darker side of dreams. Namely, fear and retaliation. We’re told our whole lives that fear is simply an emotion, a feeling and nothing more. The most famous quote I know about fear originated with Franklin D. Roosevelt’s “The only thing to fear is fear itself.”
In the dream work I’ve done I’ve discovered that there’s another side to fear. Something more devious. Something treacherous.
When we meet fear in our dreams it bullies us. Whether you’re being chased by a serial killer, falling from a great height, or simply put in a setting where fear is inevitable (such as the alley at midnight scenario), we’re fear’s victim. Fear is a merciless master. But what happens when fear pursues us? I’m not talking about simply being afraid when we’re going through our day and a scary dream comes to mind. I’m talking about the kind of thing where fear is retaliating against an action you take to destroy its influence in a person’s life. Since I’ve made a habit of helping people confront the fears they encounter in their dreams, this retaliation is nothing new to me. If this sort of thing is a new concept to you allow me to cover some basic principles that makes what I’m talking about possible.
Perhaps one of the least known things about fear is that fear can not just be overcome, but defeated. As a dreamer you don’t have to be a victim every time fear shows up and wants to torment you with its unholy scenarios where someone’s going though your house killing off your family one by one and you’re just waiting for them to get to you. One of the most important things you can do is to ask light into your dreams as you’re falling off to sleep. You don’t want just any light though. In order to defeat fear you’re going to need the most powerful Light there is, a Light that’s so powerful that it can fill the whole world. You’ll also need a prince. Again, not just any prince, but a Prince that’s infused with and emanates the most powerful Peace in the world. Light and Peace are the kryptonite of fear.
Yes, it’s possible to defeat fear. Thing is, in order to do that you’ll need to completely shut the door to fear. You cannot allow there to be one open door or fear will reenter your life and take over. The spirit of fear is such that if you allow it one inch it will take ten thousand miles. That’s right, fear is more than just an emotion. Fear is a demonic spirit.
To help explain this more completely I’ll borrow an example from real life. I met this dreamer who kept having this dream that she was driving through a desert landscape with her brother. The dreamer stopped in front of this this two story wooden house. Her brother got out of the car, went inside and she watched him turn on the television in the living room. As soon as the television was on there was this woman that appeared out of nowhere picked him up and threw him against the walls of the living room. She could hear him crying out in pain and agony, yet she couldn’t get out of the car and go inside the house to help him.
Fear evaporated her courage.
When I asked the dreamer if any part of her dream reminded her of her waking life she thought for a minute and said “Yeah. When my brother and I spend time together we’re usually watching our favorite shows. Our absolute favorite is Breaking Bad. The house out in the desert reminds me of that show.” She further explained that they also liked watched Walking Dead and just about anything to do with zombies. Now the dream started to make sense.
The interpretation of this dream is simply this: What your brother’s doing in the living room is hurting him. She asked me why she was driving the car to deliver her brother to the violent living room. After answering a few key questions she had her answer. She was the one who introduced him to the shows they watch together. Now that the dream was making more sense, I introduced the purpose she was given this dream. She was very curious why she’d dream something like this. The answer is to show her what they were doing together is hurting her brother. I told her the obvious. the best thing she could do to help him is to find other things to watch, or better yet other things to do when they’re together. She said “No, we’re not going to stop watching those shows.” I asked why and she simply said because she likes watching them too much.
So there’s an interesting predicament. This woman is being shown through a dream that she what her and her brother are watching together, the things she introduced to him, are hurting him. Yet, she refuses to close the door because she likes her shows too much.
Fear can absolutely be defeated in your life, dear dreamer, but you must close the door completely. This month of October is open season for horror movies, and very scary suspense movies. The opportunity to fear is everywhere. If you want fear to leave your life you can’t entertain it, make room for it in your life, and expect it to go.
Now, on to retaliation. When I help dreamers destroy the influence of fear in their dreams, and nightmares I typically begin having nightmares, They’re not long lasting, I only wrestle with them one night, two at the most, but I deal with them quickly by asking for Light and Peace that can only come from One who is Light and Peace. His name is Light of the World and fear runs and cowers in His presence. The key, once again, is to RESIST fear every chance you get. If you make a home for it in your life you’re giving it permission. This may seem like it’s basic knowledge, common sense, but it’s unbelievable how many dreams don’t make the connection for one reason or another. Fear is deceptive in its very nature, therefore when you deals with fear in any capacity you’re dealing with treachery. It’s best to remember one of the most accurate acronyms associated with the word fear. Fear= False Evidence Appearing Real.
