Love Dreams
Dreams about love can be an exhilarating, all-consuming, intense experience. We’re all familiar with these wonderful, terrible, and confusing feelings. Love in your dream life can often mirror love in your waking life. I can only offer help to clear up the confusion in your dream love life, and I’m willing to help with the experience I’ve gained interpreting over 4,000 dreams.
Love dreams sweep the dreamer off their feet with romantic love. The dreamer’s partner can be any number of uncomfortable people. Love dreams are nearly always confusing because it can symbolize a shared passion for life not romance. Your love dream may not be about romantic. You know how dreams are.
The meaning of each individual love dream varies greatly depending upon context and requires a closer look to be able to detect the message the dream intends to communicate to each individual dreamer.
Romantic Love Dreams
Let’s take a look at a couple of dreams I found on the internet to gain insight into the general meaning of love dreams.
Here’s the first dream::
Last night I had a dream about a tall man with long black hair. He was coming to my house to do some construction work and he became infatuated with me. The dream got a little spicy but that’s not the important part.
When I woke up, I unfortunately had the displeasure of remembering it. It’s been almost an entire twenty four hours and I can’t get over this mania in my dreams. I’m thinking about him, I want to draw him and keep him close. I can’t believe I’m crushing on a man I’ve only met in my dreams. I’m even hoping I dream about him again soon. I miss this mysterious man.
End of Dream
This is the ever so common falling in love dream with a man who doesn’t exist. There’s not much of a dream to go on here, but working with what the dreamer gives me, I see that there’s a man who comes to the dreamer’s home to do construction work and he becomes infatuated with her. Inviting someone into your home to do construction work simply means there’s a part of your life that’s needing work. The fact the mystery man becomes infatuated with the dreamer means they develop admiration for them. This is more of a comment on the beauty and giftedness of the dreamer’s life than anything else. Things get spicy; code for passion. This dream seems to have more of feeling a shared passion, as in life’s passion, than a romantic passion.
The dream is revealing the need the dreamer has for someone like minded to reach out and connect with her, to see her and appreciate her for who she is, and to share her life’s passion. This dream is not about romantic love at all.
Here’s another Reddit dream:
To be honest, this dream only ever happens to me when I’m lonely and single. But I have these dreams where I meet someone who is stunningly beautiful and like I fell head over heels in love. Then the next morning I wake up and realize that it was all a dream and it breaks my heart. It’s kind of bittersweet, you know? I love the dreams because the feeling of falling in love, even in a dream is amazing, but at the same time it’s heartbreaking because it’s never real. I’ve been single now going on two years after being in a seven year relationship.I hope I meet someone new soon because this sucks!
The meaning of this dream is straight forward. The dreamer is in love with the idea of love and being in a relationship. The evidence of this is the dreamer has this dream when they are lonely and single.
The Perfect Man
I had a vivid dream two nights ago involving a stranger that seemed like the perfect man. When I awoke I made the decision to dedicate my life search for that man. I’ve been feeling depressed over the possibility that I may never find that man, and will settle for my current partner, (with whom I’ve been close to for nine years). I was intimate with him last night and it was stale, like he was a stranger. Kissing him was weird.
My heart hurt when I first read this dream. Several things stuck out to me that old me the dream wasn’t causing the dreamer’s depression and confusion. It was the dreamer herself.
If I’ve learned anything by talking to dreamers over the last six years, its to listen to the dreamer. Dreamers will say things that give away the meaning of their dreams and not even realize it until I began pointing them out.
In a dream like this, the dreamer is very heavily emotionally tied to the dream. I am not. This may seem a bit callous but I didn’t really care if this dreamer finds “The Perfect” man. It’s not going to make a bit of difference in my life. It will revolutionize and revitalize the love life of the dreamer, or so she thinks.
Therein lies the problem.
Interpretation
No relationship is perfect. Anyone whose ever been in a relationship knows this. In the dreamworld anything’s possible. Even “The Perfect Man”.
This dream gives us a glimpse into who the dreamer is and what kind of values this dreamer has. She’s in a relationship and her partner adores her, and is a real person. The perfect man she meets in her dream is a fantasy — she admits that. My question to the dreamer would be — What is it that causes you to search for a perfect man when you’re already in a relationship with someone who adores you?
The answer to that question reveals itself if I simply pay attention to what the dreamer says as they’re describing the dream. The most telling thing she says is “When I woke up I made the decision to dedicate my life to search for that man.”
Wow, this guy she’s in a relationship with doesn’t have a chance.
There’s a lot to be learned from this dream. The first thing is to never, I mean NEVER, make a decision like that immediately after waking up from a dream. It doesn’t matter if it’s a romantic dream, or a dream in which you feel as if you’ve got tome to Peru as soon as you awake. Making a decision like that is based on only a dream is in the very least, unwise.
Another thing to be learned from this dream is not to assume your dreams have literal meaning. This dreamer awakes and makes a huge assumption. The perfect guy exists and she’s going to dedicate her life to finding him.
Let’s consider a metaphorical possibility of this dream for a moment. This dream could be given to this dreamer to show her that her current partner may not be the perfect man, but she’s got history with him. How could she possibly hope to gain anything by trading that history for an ideal that does not exist.
By taking this dream literally the dreamer created an impossible problem with only one unfortunate solution. I don’t know what happened to this dreamer after she posted this dream online. I don’t know if she acted on her feelings, or just came to the realization that acting on these feelings would destroy the long lasting relationship as well as destroy this guy that adores her. He’s accepted you with the flaws you have. Why couldn’t you do the same for him?
Reanimated Love Dreams
Romantic love is not always fresh and new, sometimes it’s reanimated with an ex. What follows is a series of dreams that greatly confused the dreamer
The first dream begins with the dreamer running into their ex-husband. They chatted casually and the dream ended.
The second dream, which she had a few nights later, placed the dreamer at a coffee shop with her ex-husband. They enjoyed each other’s company and the dream ended.
The next time she dreamed about her ex they were holding hands and her emotions were off the charts. In the subsequent dream they kissed.
You can see where this progression is going which caused the dreamer to be very concerned. Her number one question was this: is the dream telling me my ex wants to get back together?
In a word the answer is no. In fact, these dreams are not even about her ex-husband. The dreams are about her.
You see, it’s easy to assume that because the dreamer saw the face of their ex that it was literally her ex. Without even knowing it, she made the number one mistake most dreamers make. She took the dream literally.
What’s the dream about then if it’s not telling her that her ex wants to get back together? The dream is simply describing a relationship that the dreamer is reentering. The ex-husband represents the time frame for the relationship.
For example, if the dreamer had a close relationship with gossip or cigarettes at the time she was married and gave them up after her divorce, this dream is warning her that the habit is reentering her life.
Now, it is important to realize that dreams about exes don’t necessarily say what the dreamer might be reentering the relationship with. But again, the clue is that it was something she was doing at the time she was in that past relationship.
There are the basics of Love Dreams.
