Dreams and the Unexpected

Dreams are filled with mystery and intrigue, that’s what makes them challenging at times.  It’s also what makes the delivery of an interpretation so satisfying.  But in the midst of all the mystery and intrigue there’s this aspect of dreams I’ve discovered that is rather sobering.  Dreamers can unknowingly agree with things in their dreams that have a profound affect on their waking lives.

We’ve all heard the childhood saying sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me.  As we get a few years under our belts we all find out the hard way those words are not true.  Some find this out by way of childhood nightmares.

Nightmares are notorious for scaring the wits out of children.  Kids sometimes have so many nightmares that they may end up saying something like “If this is what dreaming is about, I don’t want to dream.”  Those words, spoken in frustration, can cause a dreamer to stop dreaming for decades.

Then there are fear dreams.  Fear dreams capitalize on our worst fears.  As the dreamer gives into their fear, a sort of agreement is made. Repetitive fear dreams can be a warning for a dreamer to confront and deal with certain fears.  If those dreams are ignored, or the fears the dream is highlighting remain unconfronted, those fears are sometimes known to manifest in the dreamer’s life.

A skilled dream interpreter filtering such a dream through the ancient Hebraic model of dream interpretation can not only identify which of your dreams might be able to influence your waking life in a negative way, but they can also show you how to flip a dream.  Flipping a dream is an interpretation technique that allows the interpreter to extract a positive, even encouraging, meaning out of the most disturbing fear dreams.

Then there are the non-nightmarish dreams that invite the dreamer to agree with a negative self image, or anger against someone who’s offended you.  Agreement in dreams is not always a negative thing.  In fact, I’ve had many dreams that have encouraged me to agree with positive things that I’ve found had to believe.  The key is to know this kind of agreement could exist in your dreams.  If you are on your guard you will be less likely to unknowingly agree with the unexpected in your dreams.
