A pair for Halloween
A young man shared a dream with me recently that seemed to reveal hints about his life’s calling. And it just happened to have a subtle Halloween theme. Here’s the dream.
I was in a playground in a park wearing a Batman costume. It was afternoon and there was no one else around as I practiced and practiced how to fly.
Believe it or not, this simple dream may contain several keys to what this young man is gifted to do with his life. But I’m getting a little ahead of myself, so lets go back to defining the elements in the dream.
First, the dreamer finds himself in a deserted park at a deserted play ground. He’s the only person in the dream so it’s about him. Second, he’s dressed up as batman and he’s practicing how to fly. Why not Superman? Why not Spiderman? The dreamer may like Batman more than the other two, but if we take a step back we can see something deeper at work here. There’s great truth and enlightenment in simplicity. In order to do that, we’ve got to look at the simplest definition of a bat.
A bat is a nocturnal mammal with webbed forelimbs and an ability to navigate at night by the use of echolocation. This simple definition allows the truth and enlightenment of the dream to come to light.
On the surface it doesn’t make sense that the young man is in a park all by himself in the middle of the day to practice how to fly. If we look a little deeper and apply the the nocturnal habits of a bat to the scenario, we see that he is leaning things in the light to be able to function in darkness. If we look at echolocation in light of his training, we see that he’s being trained in the ability to see things in the dark. To be able to navigate in the real of darkness. The dream doesn’t reveal any specifics about what this young man’s calling is, but he is being shown in this dream that whatever he’s going to be doing he will be well equipped.
While working on this dream, I’m reminded of a dream I had when i was roughly the same age. In my dream, I walked into the living room from my bedroom and saw our television covered in cobwebs and cardboard skeletons and everything else that had to do with Halloween. I forgot about this dream until i began studying dreams and thinking back to the dreams I had many decades ago. As this Halloween dream came to mind I remembered that I had it in May. After a few minutes of thinking through my dream I realized that it was showing me a vision for my life. A television is a tell-a-vision and was surrounded by everything Halloween. In the years since I had the dream I’ve studied dreams and have taken a shine to nightmares. I’ve helped many people with their nightmares and it’s one of my favorite things to do. In fact, I’d rather help someone work through their nightmare than do my day job. That, fellow dreamer, is one of the biggest hints on what you were put on this earth to do.
